Mystery Fossil

Data:  Hello-
I found these shells a wile ago when I was down in Mexico and have no idea what they are. I know that one, the one on the left, is a cowrie but thats about it. I would really like to find out what species it is and some info on it. I had a bit of trouble getting the picture of it so if you can't see it that well. The cowrie has a pale pink top, it is not smooth like most cowries, has some dark spots around the edges, and is about 3/4 inches long. The one to the right I have no idea what it is. I thought it was a cowrie, but only one end was open. I thought it was a cowrie helmet, but the top end is balled, not spiralled. It has four "teeth" on the inner side, has two yellowish full strips, two lighter half stripes, and a few faint yellowish dots on the surface. It is a little smaller than the cowrie, by about 1/8 of an inch. Thanks for your help and I would really like to find out as much as I can about these shells.

  • The cowrie (2) has a worn back, probably human-caused, hence not being smooth nor looking like normal species. The other shell is marginellid (1)
