Uses:
- Shells are ground up
and added to chicken feed (for stronger eggs)
- For decades the large
Strombus gigas was used as ballast in ships returning from the
Caribbean.

South American Indians use shell lime to extract the narcotic (Cocaine!) from cocoa leaves.

Some countries used powdered shells instead of calcium carbonate to make the liquid clay used in the production of ceramics. This adds a different effect to the finished product.
